Guildford celebrates Parks and Leisure volunteers' achievements

Our Parks and Leisure team held a reception last night to thank our many local volunteers for giving their time to support countryside events and projects around Guildford.

The volunteers help with a range of services, such as protecting the environment, managing land, wildlife conservation and providing opportunities to members of the public to get involved.

The Parks and Leisure management team welcomed around 70 volunteers, as well as the Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Gordon Jackson, and Cllr Billington, Lead Councillor for Countryside, Parks and Leisure.

The Mayor said:  "It is a pleasure to recognise the time and commitment that our volunteers contribute towards our fabulous Surrey landscapes. During the course of my Mayoral year, I have visited several projects across the Borough, and have been extremely impressed with how much enjoyment local groups get from working in the countryside."
