Big Screen entertainment starts this week at the Village, Guildford

For the next two weeks big screen entertainment is a highlight at the Village, Guildford. In the mornings free live kids TV will be shown followed at midday by the tennis at Wimbledon. So if you want to find out the tennis scores during a trip to Guildford, or in your lunch break, pop into the Village. After work, on your way home, relax in front of the big screen and enjoy a cold drink or an ice-cream.

Then on Friday and Saturday evenings, the entertainment switches to classic big screen, open air, movie action.

First up on Friday 7 July is that modern classic and Academy Award winning film from 1987 starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey - 'Dirty Dancing'. The soundtrack features many original recordings of songs from the early 1960s, the era in which the film is set.

Next it's 'Mean Girls' starring Lindsay Lohan screening on Saturday night (8 July). Since the film's release in 2004 it has built a cult following. The film is an American teen comedy directed by Mark Waters (Freaky Friday, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past , Mr. Popper's Penguins).

Friday 14 July sees the big screen thrills provided by 'Maverick' Tom Cruise, 'Charlie' Kelly McGillis, 'Iceman' Val Kilmer and 'Goose' played by Anthony Edwards. It can be non-other than 'Top Gun'! As well as the legendary flying sequences the soundtrack features the Academy Award winning song 'Take my breath away'.

The next night (15 July) it's time to relive those 'Summer nights' of 1958 set amongst the pupils of Rydell High School as Danny (John Travolta), Sandra (Olivia Newton-John) and their classmates navigate the trials and tribulations of teenage love. With a soundtrack packed with hits such as 'You're the one that I want', 'Grease' and 'We go together' this is the perfect feel good film.           

The film evenings are ticketed events so book a bean bag, grab a bag of freshly made popcorn or a tasty snack, sit back and relax. There's also a fully licensed bar selling a selection alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
