Council adopts West Horsley Neighbourhood Plan
The Council has made (adopted) the West Horsley Neighbourhood Plan, following its meeting on 4 December and the successful referendum result on 22 November 2018.
The West Horsley Neighbourhood Plan forms part of the development plan for the borough of Guildford and will help to decide the outcome of planning applications within the area.

The Localism Act 2011 introduced new rights to help communities shape development in their local areas. Neighbourhood plans and orders can set planning policies and grant up front permission for developments that the community wants to see go ahead. They must take account of national policy and help meet the strategic needs of the wider local area.
Under recent changes to the Act, the Plan forms part of the statutory Development Plan and carries full weight in planning decisions as soon as it has been approved at referendum rather than when it is made. Applications for planning permission must be determined in accordance with the Development Plan, unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
