Above and beyond: Who makes a real difference in your community? Nominations invited for Mayor's award

Do you know anyone in your community who goes out of their way to improve the lives of others?

Mayor Cllr Mike Parsons with County Club General Manager Kevin Lorimer
Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Mike Parsons, explains: "We are asking people to nominate good deeds, community spirit and the exceptional work to help others that goes on in their community".

The Mayor's Award for Service to the Community aims to recognise and encourage positive community working in the borough, and celebrates residents and groups who make a real difference by volunteering or fostering good relationships.

"Volunteering - for the people, by the people, is the theme for my mayoral year. These awards recognise and celebrate the remarkable contribution made by the kindness and endless enthusiasm of many local people who make a special effort in their neighbourhood," adds the Mayor.

Award recipients are nominated by the local community. To make a nomination, please complete the online nomination form. Alternatively you can email CivicSecretary@guildford.gov.uk or call 01483 444031 for a form.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 22 February. The Mayor will present the awards at an informal ceremony on Saturday 27 April 2019.

The Mayor's Award for Service to the Community is kindly sponsored by The County Club, Guildford.
