Update: water supply issues in the GU1, GU2, GU3, GU4 and GU5 areas has been resolved

The majority of customers' supply should have returned by now. However for those who are still without supply, this will be as a result of air pockets. Read advice from Thames Water about no water or low pressure

If you are still experiencing issues with your water supply this morning you can get free bottled water from a Thames Water bottled water station. For water stations opening times and updates, visit Thames Water website.

If you need support from an engineer to get your water supply back to normal, please call Thames Water on 0800 316 9800.

Guildford Remembers 2022

Armistice Day 2022

This Remembrance Day we conducted a short ceremony from the balcony of the Guildhall in the High Street. The Mayor's Chaplain, The Revd David Peters, welcomed those gathered.

Other members of the party on the balcony were:

The Mayor, Cllr Dennis Booth, The Leader of the Council, Cllr Julia McShane, The Joint Chief Executive, Tom Horwood, Col Mike Potter, Surrey ACF, Mr Ian Chatfield, a cadet from the Royal Grammar School Combined Cadet Force and the bugler from Friary Brass Band. Invited guests included Councillors, Honorary Aldermen and members of local service organisations.

Mr Ian Chatfield, 5th Queen's Royal Regiment OMA, read The Exhortation.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them."

Shortly before 11am Richard Straker from the Friary Brass Band sounded the Last Post. The flag was lowered to half mast. The party on the balcony, invited guest and members of the public gathered in the street all observed the two-minute silence.

During the playing of the Reveille, the flag was raised again. A cadet from the RGS Combined Cadet Force read The Kohima Epitaph.

'When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today.'

The ceremony ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
