Have your say on new homes at the Guildford Park Road car park site

Guildford Park Road car park development

Help guide the early proposals for the redevelopment of the Guildford Park Road car park site. We are launching a public exhibition and an online webinar about our plans to build the new homes that Guildford needs.

Councillor Julia McShane, Deputy Leader of the Council and Lead Cllr for Communities and Housing, said: "We want to make sure that everyone in our borough has access to good homes and this town centre site could provide some opportunities for places for people to live. We have been working with our design team to develop our plans and are now consulting on the early proposals for the redevelopment of the site. We want to hear what local people have to say about these plans so we can make sure that we develop our plans to best suit the site.

"Our vision for the site is to provide quality housing for people that need a home. It will be a place where you know your neighbour, designed around a landscape that encourages people to meet with its own authentic character. It's a place that will be built to last, where people feel they belong and that contributes to their wellbeing. We want to make sure that these new homes, in the heart of Guildford also offer affordable accommodation. We are really excited to share our early plans and get feedback from local people."

The public exhibition will be at Grace Church Guildford, Guildford Park Road, Guildford, Surrey GU2 7NF on:

  • Wednesday 20 April from 3pm to 6.30pm
  • Thursday 21 April from 3pm to 6.30pm

The online webinar will be on 19 April from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Early plans for Guildford Park Road focus on delivering the new homes that Guildford needs, in a highly sustainable development that makes the most of its great location next to the station and close to the town centre. Our plans include a real mix of homes for everyone, from families to first time buyers as well as at least 40% affordable housing. There will be new green spaces and play areas, locally distinctive architecture and quality materials. At the public exhibition and online webinar we will also share how our proposals fit in with the town's heritage, important views of Guildford Cathedral and The Castle, as well as other new developments coming forward in the town centre.
