Ash Road Bridge drop-in sessions draw the crowds
Over 400 people dropped into our Ash Road Bridge project information sessions last week. The project team were on hand to go through the plans and answer questions. There was a lot of interest in the new bridge and how the roads will look in future, as well as how we're carrying out the work. While there were some concerns expressed, the majority were in support of the scheme.
Main construction starts in October, with completion scheduled for December 2024.
Visitors were also given the opportunity to sign up to join us for regular catch-up meetings.
Deputy Leader and Lead Councillor for Regeneration, Cllr Tom Hunt, said:
"It was good to see so many people taking an interest in the scheme. One of the questions we were asked a lot was about pedestrian access to the station. I can confirm that the level crossing will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists after the bridge is open and until such time as a footbridge is installed. Visit the Ash Road Bridge page on our website for further updates and information about the scheme."
