Freedom Parade and 80th anniversary of D-Day

D-Day 80 Flag of Peace features country flags and the caption D-Day 80 6 June 2024

On Saturday 8 June 2024 the 4th Battalion The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment will be exercising the Regiment's Freedom of Guildford by marching through the town with Colours flying and bayonets fixed. 

This County Commemoration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day is being jointly hosted by:

  • His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey
  • the Mayor of Guildford

You're invited

The event will start at 12:15pm and end at approximately 1pm.

  • come and commemorate this significant national anniversary. 
  • watch the magnificent parade led by the Kohima band
  • attend a short outdoor service outside Holy Trinity Church

Local veterans, representatives of service and cadet organisations will be attending. 

 The parade will be inspected by:

  • HM Lord-Lieutenant, Michael More-Molyneux
  • Col (Retd) Patrick Crowley MBE DL, Deputy Colonel of the Regiment,
  • the Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Sallie Barker MBE
