Give your views on two new Housing Strategies for Guildford
The strategies cover housing and homelessness services. The comprehensive plans aim to address current challenges, meet future housing needs, and ensure that every resident has a safe, suitable place to call home.
Cllr Julia McShane, Leader of the Council and Lead Councillor for Housing, says:
"We're working on these two new strategies as part of our commitment to improving housing services and delivering affordable, sustainable, and quality homes. As part of our vision for a greener, fairer, thriving Guildford, we want the strategies to deliver lasting benefits for our residents.
"The strategies focus on key areas such as affordability, sustainability and inclusivity and we want local people to have their say on the future of vital housing services."
Key elements of the housing strategies include:
- The delivery of homes people need and can afford: Increase the supply of affordable housing by working in partnership with a range of providers, and make the best use of the Council's land assets and resources.
- Improve the quality, standard and safety of homes and housing services: Deliver the regulatory requirements as a provider of social housing and use powers to ensure all rented homes meet minimum standards.
- Prevent homelessness and rough sleeping: Provide those who are homeless or are threatened with homelessness with the advice, assistance and support they need.
- Improve housing options and opportunities: Offer a comprehensive service that delivers sustainable housing solutions across all sectors, providing expert advice and tailored support.
Have your say
These two housing strategies are built on collaboration. To ensure their ongoing success, we are asking for the views of residents, housing experts, and community organisations to help shape our vision and priorities.

Cllr McShane adds:
"You can help us to tackle housing challenges and create a community where everyone thrives. Together, let's make Guildford borough a place we're all proud to call home."
