Donated gifts go to local families this Christmas

Students at Guildford High School donated over 400 presents to families we support at our community hub, The Hive.

Lead Councillor for Community and Organisational Development, Cllr Carla Morson, says:

"Thanks to the generosity of Guildford High School students, we're able to bring joy to children and families who need it most this festive season.

"Guildford High School has supported our Christmas present scheme since 2021. Their kind donations have helped us to distribute over 1,500 gifts so far. Through the strength of community and the impact of giving, we hope to continue spreading some Christmas cheer in years to come."

We gave the presents to families who are supported by our Community Wellbeing Team or were referred by home link workers and partner organisations.

Jenni Hall of Guildford High School adds:

"We are delighted to be partnering again this year with the Community Wellbeing Team and to be building a long-term relationship with them. We are committed to supporting local community initiatives and this has very much become part of Christmas at Guildford High School."

We aim to build a more inclusive borough through providing support to local people, groups and community organisations. The services on offer at The Hive on Park Barn Drive include:

·        activities and events for all ages

·        wellbeing services and support groups

·        a community fridge and pantry

·        a soft play area alongside The Honey Pot Café

·        Thrive at The Hive - a space to access donated essential items such as clothing, homeware, and children's toys on a pay-as-you-feel basis.

The centre is also home to our Community Meals and Community Transport services.
