Guildford families celebrate bonfire night thanks to Lions Club and our Community Wellbeing team

Guildford Firework Festival 2025

Local families enjoyed a sparkling evening of entertainment at Guildford Firework Festival thanks to the generosity of Guildford Lions Club and the support of our Community Wellbeing team.

Held at Stoke Park on Saturday 8 November, the event dazzled with a spectacular display of colourful fireworks, music and children's activities. Guildford Lions donated 200 tickets to our Community Wellbeing team. These were distributed to 48 families who might otherwise have missed out, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the bonfire night celebrations.

Cllr Carla Morson, Lead Councillor for Community says:

"This is a great example of how we continue to work alongside local organisations to support our residents and make a difference to local families. By working together, we can ensure that support and donations reach those who will benefit most. Thank you to Guildford Lions for their continued hard work and generosity."

The tickets were distributed through our community hub at The Hive, which provides services and support to residents across the borough.

Families who attended the event shared their thanks:

  • "Thank you for the tickets - we really enjoyed it, and it was so much fun."
  • "It was great, thank you."
  • "We had a great evening with friends."

Guildford Lions Club support the local community through a wide range of initiatives including fundraising events, volunteer services and direct help to those that need it. Based at the Waterside Centre, the group is run by volunteers with a passion for helping others whilst having some fun along the way. Last year the team distributed £61,00 to local charitable and deserving causes.

Geoff Sheldon, President of Guildford Lions Club says:

"This donation is about more than just tickets - we want everyone to feel included in their local community and to have the opportunity to enjoy events and activities that can be otherwise out of reach."
