Yellow weather warning for Guildford

The Met Office (opens new window) has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds and rain over the next few days. Read our advice during severe weather.

Add, change, or remove a property name

You can apply and pay online to add, change, or remove a name of an existing property. The cost is £150. If your changes mean a new address needs to be created, apply to register a new address instead.

We control the names of streets and properties in the borough. To decide on applications, we use:

  • our own street naming and numbering policy
  • the National Land and Property Gazetteer

To apply, you must be either:

the property owner, or
the property owner's agent

What you cannot do

You cannot apply if:

you're a prospective buyer
you're a tenant
you want to remove a property's name that does not have a property number to use instead
the new name is the same as or similar to the names of other properties nearby
you want to remove the property number and use a name instead

How to apply

Complete our online form and pay online.

We cannot give a fixed timescale for deciding on your application. We'll make any changes we approve as soon as possible.
