Dog control PSPO consultation

We are reviewing our current  and considering a new order to help address issues that affect the quality of life of residents and visitors across the borough.

What we are consulting on

We want to hear whether you agree with the new proposed Dog Control PSPO. This would require anyone in control of a dog in Guildford Borough to:

  • remove dog faeces immediately after a dog has fouled on land within the proposed restricted areas
  • carry suitable means to remove dog faeces
  • keep dogs out of designated Dog Exclusion Areas
  • keep dogs on a lead in designated Dogs on Leads Areas
  • comply with a reasonable request from an authorised officer to place and keep a dog on a lead

We are also considering making it an offence to walk, exercise or be in charge of more than four dogs at any one time unless the individual is a licensed holder (such as a dog kennel owner or dog-walker) that can walk up to six dogs at any one time.
