Get ready to vote on 7 May 2026 for who will represent you on West Surrey Council. This will replace Surrey County Council and 11 borough and district councils (including Guildford) from 1 April 2027.

Guildford town centre has been awarded the Purple Flag every year since 2014.

The Purple Flag award is given to areas with a diverse mix of dining, entertainment and culture. Towns given this award must provide a safe, vibrant and varied night out. It is the only town in the county, and one of around 70 towns in the UK, to hold the award.

The award aims to raise standards and broaden the appeal of town and city centres between 5pm and 5am.
