Our Seven Green Flag Parks Await Your Discovery!
Seven of our pristine parks and countryside sites have once again won the Green Flag Awards! The Green Flag Award is the international mark of quality for parks and green spaces. Our commitment is to maintain and preserve these natural gems.
Our green spaces are looked after by our dedicated parks team. We have a portfolio of 50 breath taking countryside sites, 65 enchanting parks and gardens, and over 30 playgrounds.
These award-winning parks extend far beyond their aesthetic appeal. In fact, they hold the power to elevate our community's wellbeing. Picture yourself strolling through the lush landscapes and feeling the stresses of the day melt away. It's not just a dream! These spaces have a positive impact on the mental and physical health of our visitors.
As the world embraces sustainability, our parks stand tall as guardians of the environment. By looking after our green spaces, we are playing our part in safeguarding the planet.
Our Green Flag parks are:
- Allen House Grounds
- Chilworth Gunpowder Mills
- Onslow Recreation Ground
- Riverside Nature Reserve
- Stoke Park
- Sutherland Memorial Park
- The Castle Grounds
Lead Councillor for Regulation and Environment, Cllr George Potter, said:
"Each tree, each blade of grass, and every ecosystem within our parks are a reminder of our collective responsibility to protect our natural heritage.
"I congratulate and thank everyone involved in making these parks worthy of a Green Flag Award. Our parks team's dedication and work are of highest standards. These vibrant green spaces contribute to making our borough a greener, and healthier place to live, work, and visit."
