Our museum retains Arts Council Accreditation

Our museum has successfully retained its Full Accreditation from Arts Council England.

It recognises the hard work our heritage team have put in to:

• looking after our collection of objects to preserve and protect them for the future
• developing an engaging programme of activities, events and exhibitions
• connecting with our visitors
• providing education and learning activities
• Meeting relevant standards for policies and procedures.

Lead Councillor for Commercial Services, Cllr Catherine Houston said:

"This is great news for our museum. Our team puts a huge amount of effort into making sure that people have access to and can engage with our collections. I am delighted that their efforts continue to be recognised."

What does the Accreditation Scheme do?

The UK Museum Accreditation Scheme (opens new window) makes sure museums:

• manage their collections properly
• engage with visitors
• are governed appropriately by encouraging all museums and galleries to meet an agreed standard

Museum opening times

Our Museum is open Wednesday to Saturday, 12noon to 4.30pm and is free to enter. The last entry is at 4pm.
