Help with hoarding

Extreme cluttered environments can impact on people's ability to use cooking facilities which affects general health and wellbeing, the inability to manage personal care becomes challenging affecting self-esteem and interaction with others.

Our care and repair team can support you with hoarding. We have a dedicated team that can work initially on a one to one basis.

An informal assessment is completed to help the team understand the resident. This lets the team create an action plan, agreed with the resident, to improve the home environment.

More infomation on the process can be found in our booklets (PDF, 182 KB).

Funding

Grants are available, subject to a means test, under the Home Improvement Assistance Scheme. It helps homeowners make essential repairs to their properties.

A discretionary grant is available to help remove hoarded items from homes. This is awarded on a case by case basis.
