Future vision for the Electric Theatre to be explored with the community

Cllr Julia McShane, Leader of Guildford Borough Council, said:
"The Electric Theatre holds a special place in the hearts of so many people in Guildford. We know how important it is to our community, and we are absolutely committed to ensuring it continues to thrive. That's why we're putting community groups and local partners at the centre of this journey to explore options and create a shared vision for the theatre's future.
"I'm delighted to share that one of the ways we'll be involving the community is through a roundtable discussion, bringing together everyone who cares about the theatre. We want to listen to the views of our community.
"This will be a chance to explore new ideas, look at opportunities for collaboration, build partnerships and create a sustainable economic plan that supports the Electric Theatre's long-term success. The Electric Theatre is not just a building - it's an Asset of Community Value, and we want to look at ways we can honour that."
Since the lease was surrendered, the Council has listened to local organisations and residents, who have shared exciting ideas for the venue. Various groups have expressed interest in using the space for community activities, and the Council is now inviting them to meet up, together with the Council, to help shape a vision.
Cllr Julia McShane added:
"As part of this process, we are required to consider all potential uses for the site. However, I want to reassure residents that we will look beyond just financial value - we will also consider the wider social value and the unique significance the Electric Theatre holds for Guildford."
