Demolition work begins on empty homes as part of Westborough and Park Barn Better Homes Programme

Westborough and Park Barn Southway demolition

Westborough and Park Barn Southway demolition
Work is under way to remove several Council-owned empty homes in Westborough and Park Barn, marking the first visible step in the Better Homes Programme for the area.

The empty properties on Southway and Roundhill Way are no longer structurally safe to live in. Removing them will address ongoing safety concerns and clear the way for future improvements to the neighbourhood.

The Better Homes Programme is at an early stage. No decisions have yet been made about what will happen on the demolition sites or in the wider community. Any future proposals for new or updated housing, community facilities, or other improvements will be developed with local residents.

Julian Higson, Joint Strategic Director of Housing, Communities and Environment says:

"A new resident engagement group is being set up so local people can help shape the programme from the start. The group will meet for the first time in the coming weeks. Residents will be able to share their insight, highlight priorities, and take part in open conversations as plans evolve.

"We'll keep the community updated throughout, with regular information, opportunities to ask questions, and clear explanations of what happens next."
