Derby Road play area consultation

We are considering replacing Derby Road play area with a pocket park. Pocket parks are green spaces at a smaller scale. They sit in built up areas, with access for local residents.

Derby Road needs considerable investment. Following a consultation in 2019, we decided to invest in two other play areas. These are the Kings College and Woodside Road play areas. We aim to refurbish these play areas during 2023. Currently, Derby Road is closed for safety reasons.

The consultation closed on Tuesday 11 July 2023. It lasted for six weeks.

Survey feedback

We had 81 responses.

The responses showed that:

  • 59% were in favour of turning the play area into a pocket park
  • 55% thought it would improve the local environment

The most popular features for a new pocket park were:

  • logs
  • tree trunks
  • boulders
  • wildflowers or bulbs

We now need to secure funding to install the pocket park.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us.
