Who is responsible for maintenance and repairs?

As the tenant, you are responsible for the locks, keys and the keeping of the garage in a clean and tidy condition.

You are responsible for insuring anything you store in the garage. The garages are not suitable for the storage of high value household items. This includes electrical equipment or other items liable to deteriorate in either cold or damp conditions. The Council will not accept liability for any loss, deterioration or damage to any such items stored in our garages.

As the landlord, we are responsible for keeping the garage in a useable condition.
This includes repairs required to the:

  • main structure
  • roof
  • door
  • door mechanism
  • rainwater goods
  • forecourts

This will be dealt with by the Council and the tenant should report any such defects to the Council's repairs team by completing our online form.
