Delegated Authority decisions

The final decision is nearly always made by either:

  • Principle Planning Officers
  • the Head of Place

This is known as a Delegated Authority decision. The Planning Officers or Planning Development Manager consider the caseworker's recommendation as well as the public comments (opens new window).

Sometimes, Local Councillors also consider the caseworker's recommendation. This happens if:

  • there are a lot of objections
  • the caseworker recommended a refusal

If the councillors disagree with the caseworker's recommendation, the Planning Committee have to decide on the application.
