As the sun shines bright this summer, what better way to spend it than with a seasonal stroll? Our borough is full of wonderful river walks to enjoy.

Explore Upstream: Guildford to Godalming 

Start at Millmead Island or through the Rowing club field. Turn right at Shalford Park and cross over Ferry Lane bridge onto the towpath.

Nature to look out for:

  • swans 
  • ducks 
  • numerous wildlife inhabit this stretch of the river.

You can have a splashing time in Ash 

Start at Lakeside Nature Reserve. Take a route around the lake past the rustling reeds and up on to the Basingstoke Canal. Follow the canal path to the Basingstoke Canal Centre for a snack and toilets or continue to Frimley Lodge Park. 

Nature to look out for:

  • rustling reeds 
  • lots of dragonflies (the Basingstoke Canal receives funding from our council and is famous for over 29 different species of dragonfly).
