Corporate Strategy frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions for our 2024-34 corporate strategy

Does a Corporate Strategy normally last for ten years?

Each council has a unique approach. Planning for ten years helps us tackle long-term issues. These include climate change and economic growth.

In the Corporate Strategy, you talk about a Delivery Plan. What's that?

We'll create an annual Delivery Plan alongside our long-term Corporate Strategy. This plan will outline our key activities for each year, aligning with the Strategy.

When will the Delivery Plan be published?

The first Delivery Plan will be published in late-Spring 2025. It will be updated on an annual basis. Developing this will take time. We need to consult and engage to understand the key projects. They are needed to carry out our strategy.

Will you really use the Corporate Strategy to shape every decision you make?

Yes, everything we do as a council should contribute to making Guildford borough a thriving place to live, work and do business.

The strategy's goals and results will guide our budget allocations. They will also influence service planning and the documents used for performance tracking.

Will you be able to measure your progress against the Corporate Strategy?

Yes. Every quarter we will produce our Corporate Performance Report. This will track our performance against our key performance indicators.

We will measure our goals through our Corporate Strategy. This includes key services like bin collections and planning applications.

Our Corporate Performance Report is reviewed four times a year. Both Overview and Scrutiny Committees, made of elected councillors, review it. The report is publicly available on our website.
