Warning about scam impacting car park users and operators
We will never send you a text message to request payment for a parking fine.
Our Civil Enforcement Officers issue parking charge notices on the spot, or you may receive a fine by post.
What the scam text says
The text says a parking charge notice was issued by a local council and provides a link for online payment. It asks for immediate payment and threatens prosecution if the fine is not paid.
What to do if you receive a scam text
- delete the message
- don't click on any payment link
- don't give any personal information.
What to do if you think you have been a victim of this scam
Report it to Action Fraud by:
- visiting the Action Fraud website (opens new window)
- calling 0300 123 2040
You can also report scam websites to the National Cyber Security Centre. Texts can be forwarded to 7726.
