Guildford Borough Council attends Pass Off parade at ATC Pirbright
The event was held at Alexander Barracks in Pirbright, one of the Army's principal training establishments for new recruits. It marked a significant milestone for the soldiers as they were presented on parade in front of:
- senior officers,
- family
- and invited guests.
This parade was notable as it marked the final cohort to pass out under the historic Jackson Company name. It will soon become Masters VC Company, reflecting the Army's evolving structure and heritage.
Our representatives at the event were:
- Leader of the Council, Cllr Julia McShane
- Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Stephen Hives
- Cllr Tom Hunt
- The Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Jane Tyson.
Their presence reinforced our commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. It also represented strengthening relationships with ATC Pirbright.
A key military training centre
ATC Pirbright plays a nationally significant role in training new soldiers. It's undergoing major investment. Training that us currently delivered at ATR Winchester will move to the site later this year.
The establishment is a prominent part of the local area. It contributes both to the national defence infrastructure and to the Guildford community.
Cllr Stephen Hives, Armed Forces Champion at Guildford Borough Council, said:
It was a real privilege to attend the Passing Out Parade at ATC Pirbright and witness the dedication, discipline and achievement of these 114 new soldiers.
"ATC Pirbright plays a vital role in preparing soldiers for service and is an important part of our local community.
"As a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, we're committed to ensuring that those who serve, and their families, are treated fairly and supported. We're proud to maintain such a strong and positive relationship with the training centre at Pirbright."

Recognising service ahead of Armed Forces Day
The visit forms part of our wider work to highlight and celebrate the Armed Forces community ahead of Armed Forces Day on 27 June. Armed Forces Week will be marked with the ceremonial raising of the flag at the Guildhall on Guildford High Street on Monday 22 June.
