Tenancy sustainment service

Our Tenancy Sustainment Service provides targeted, practical support to help residents maintain their tenancies and live independently.

We understand that life can sometimes bring financial, social, or personal challenges that make it difficult to manage a home. Our aim is to provide early, holistic support to prevent homelessness and promote long-term housing stability.

What we do

Our Tenancy Sustainment Specialist, works closely with tenants who may be struggling to maintain their tenancy. The service offers:

  • help with rent arrears and budgeting
  • support to access benefits and financial assistance
  • advocacy and liaison with external support agencies
  • referrals and signposting to specialist services (mental health, domestic abuse, substance use, and social care)
  • support to build confidence and independence in managing your home

We work holistically, addressing not only the symptoms (like arrears) but also the underlying issues that put your tenancy at risk. Ensuring support that lasts.

How we work

Every case is different. Some people just need short-term advice, while others may need longer-term, hands-on support.

We can:

  • meet you at home, at the council offices, or in the community
  • work alongside your housing officer or support worker
  • agree a plan that fits your needs and priorities

Our approach is based on early intervention, partnership working, and empowerment. Helping you take control and build confidence in managing your tenancy.

A day in Tenancy Sustainment

"No two days are ever the same! Some days are routine - managing casework, liaising with partners, and checking progress - and others are fast-paced, responding to urgent crises or helping someone turn things around. Watching a tenant go from crisis to confidence, knowing you've played a small part in that journey, makes all the hard work worth it." Tenancy Sustainment Specialist
