The SPD provides guidance to help applicants understand the marketing requirements of policies in the Guildford Borough Local Plan.

It explains the evidence of marketing that we expect in support of planning applications involving:

a) the redevelopment or change of use of:

  • existing site(s) and buildings in employment use
  • public houses and other community facilities
  • retail unit(s) within local centres or in isolated locations that provide for everyday needs.

b) sites proposed as self-build or custom housebuilding plots.

We made the decision to adopt adopt the SPD on 24 April 2025 (opens new window), following a four-week public consultation (opens new window) between 15 January and 12 February 2025.
